Shengxiang Tianmen (elephant-shaped holy gate), locally called "Thanglha Gyalgod", is located in Chinglung Town, Baingoin County of Nagqu, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Standing on the north side of Nam Co Lake, it is separated from Mt. Nyangchen Thanglha by the holy lake, which is also regarded as the guarding gate for Holy Mountain Nyangchen Thanglha.
The Party Committee and Government of Tibet Autonomous Region has regarded the construction of beautiful Tibet as a major strategy related to national ecological safety and Tibet's sustainable development since 2013. The ecological conservation and environmental protection have made great progress in recent years.
In order to strengthen the construction of eco-safety barrier and keep the balance between tourism development and ecological conservation, Tibet demolished illegal tourism facilities in Shengxiang Tianmen scenic spot, including viewing platform, tourism road, parking lot and toilets. Besides, the tourism development of the scenic spot was stopped, thus Shengxiang Tianmen returned to nature finally.
Now, Shengxiang Tianmen, presenting a new look on its origional place, boasts both beautiful natural scenery and unique historical culture, which is like a huge picture scroll.
